Which HubSpot plan do we need?

Most mid-market sales teams need Sales Hub Professional. Choose Enterprise if you need custom objects, team hierarchies, advanced permissions or a sandbox to test changes. Free and Starter plans are too limited for a team of 10 or more salespeople with a defined sales process.

Why not Free or Starter

Free and Starter work for a few people who track contacts and deals. They do not have the automation, reporting and control a larger team needs. We do not implement on Free or Starter, because the result would not support a structured sales process.

What Professional covers

For most teams of 10 to 50 salespeople, Professional covers the essentials:

  • Workflows for follow-ups, lead routing and notifications.
  • Sequences for personal follow-up emails.
  • Several deal pipelines, for example new business and renewals.
  • Custom reports and dashboards.
  • Forecasting.
  • Playbooks and quotes.

When you need Enterprise

Choose Enterprise when one of these applies:

  • Custom objects. You track things that are not contacts, companies or deals, such as contracts, locations, subscriptions or equipment.
  • Team hierarchies. You have teams inside teams, for example regions with their own managers, and need forecasts that roll up.
  • Advanced permissions. You need to control who can see or edit specific fields, for example finance data.
  • Sandbox. You want to test changes before they reach the live portal.
  • Limits. You are close to the Professional limits for pipelines, reports or workflows.

Other hubs

  • Marketing Hub if marketing generates and nurtures leads in HubSpot.
  • Service Hub if you manage onboarding, support tickets or renewals after the sale.
  • Data Hub (formerly Operations Hub) if you sync data with other systems or need automated data quality.

You can combine tiers, for example Sales Hub Enterprise with Marketing Hub Professional.

Seats

HubSpot charges per seat. Not every user needs a paid sales seat. People who only look at records and reports can use free view-only seats. Plan seats by role, not by headcount.

HubSpot changes features and prices often. Check the current comparison on HubSpot’s pricing page before you buy.
